Start Point

For beginners, building a Zotero plugin from scratch can be daunting. To help you get started, we recommend the following resources:

windingwind/zotero-plugin-template

startfork

A ready-to-use template that sets up the basic structure of a Zotero plugin, including build scripts and example code. By using this template, you get a running plugin with most of the boilerplate code already in place, allowing you to focus on your plugin's functionality.

I strongly recommend beginners to start with this template. It really saves your precious time and effort, from the very beginning of setting up the development environment to the very end of long term release and maintenance.

For the dependencies that make this template magical, please refer to the Libraries document.

make-it-red

startfork

A minimal Zotero plugin example.

retorquere/generator-zotero-plugin

startfork

A Yeoman generator for creating Zotero plugins based on the make-it-red.
